I think the only way anyone is safe anymore is in face to face conversation. Its just better to live life honestly and hide nothing..

And thank you for the comment on Browzar. I appreciate it. I edited the post and told people to check out your comment before downloading! :0)

I think it is also similar to our computer hard drives. I think I've heard about this in the US, some people collects old hard drives for recycles. People who throw these garbages believed that the files and documents from the hard drive were already erased after you delete some programs, etc. Later they actually found evidence that some important documents weren't totally removed. So think before your dump a single piece of your old hardware.

As for cellphone, I think my memory card stored all my information so in case I buy one, I still have my contacts with me. But - we never know.

With a hard drive goes easier because you can wipe up the data.
We now have all kind of good programs.
But with a mobile phone...that's another story.
On my phone i have the option to format the drive but i don't know the security code and i can't find its papers.
It was in UK that you heard about that, probably on Grumpy Old Bastards blog.

I currently Own a Nokia 6630 and for these security reasons I never store sensitive information on my phone. I use this phone only for talking and listening to music. So when I dispose this phone I need not worry. Well Carol Now you are the moderator for OS and Software trouble shooting in our Technobytez Forum. Congratulations. :-)
